Your Options

When it comes to pregnancy, you do have options. And it is important to look into each option to see which is the best for you. If you are pregnant you basically have three options to choose from, keeping the baby, adoption, or abortion. As a teenager, each of these options will have emotional difficulties to deal with, and it is a tough decision to make.
Abortion
Abortion is the termination of an existing pregnancy. It is done by a doctor and needs to be monitored closely after the procedure is completed due to severity of complications that can occur.
In some peoples lives, abortion is the right choice. There are many people in the world that do not believe in abortion and believe it is in-humane and should not exist. However, I do understand that sometimes there is just no better option.
When considering abortion, it is important to think about what you will feel like after the fact. As you can imagine, the emotional aftermath of an abortion can be quite overwhelming and that is definitely something that needs to be thought about. There are many therapy groups available if you have trouble dealing with your abortion, or if you are not sure if is the right choice for you. If you do decide that abortion is not for you, and you cannot keep your baby, there is also the choice of adoption.
Adoption
There is three types of adoption. There is a closed adoption, semi-open adoption, and open adoption. Each of these three types also could be an extremely emotional thing to deal with, so it is important to decide which type of adoption is right for you.
A closed adoption is when you give your baby to a new family and you do not know anything about it after that. You do not know the baby’s name, location, new family, or anything else.
If you watch “Teen Mom” you have seen Catelynn and Tyler’s choice of a semi-open adoption with their daughter, Carly. In a semi-open adoption you know some of the information about the baby’s new family and new life. In Catelynn and Tyler’s adoption, they did not know Carly’s last name. Catelynn and Tyler are able to see Carly on occasion with her adoptive parents.
In an episode of “16 and pregnant” you see Ashley give her baby to her aunt and uncle in an open adoption. She knows everything about her daughter and her new life with her aunt and uncle. Ashley see’s her daughter on a regular basis for visits, and gets pictures often.
If neither abortion or adoption is right for you, there is the option of keeping your baby.
Keeping The Baby
As a teenager, keeping your baby is a tough choice to make. You need to consider how you will support yourself and your baby. However, one of the advantages of keeping the baby is you can raise your child and see him or her everyday of your lives.
When you decide to keep your baby, make sure you know how you will support yourself and the baby, make sure you plan daycare, schooling, where you and your baby will live, and every other detail of raising a child.
